Hey everyone, I'm a relatively new owner of my 1998 Taurus SHO, I got the car in March, and just this week finished a fabbed CAI and magnaflow mufflers.

My question for everyone is about tuning. Now, I know that theres much more torque in this engine, especially at lower RPM. I was contemplating wiring open my butterflies and looking into some kind of tuning. I've seriously gone through every page and found threads from like, 5-6 years ago, but I don't feel like I have enough information. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

And secondly, I can't seem to find any welders in my area on the V8SHO website. I'm in Lawrence, KS; only 30 miles or so outside of Kansas City. Does anyone know of any welders in that area?

The car has 122k on it, but still runs like a champ. I don't have any odd noises (other than the injectors) so I'm confident that I'm not in any immediate danger, but I'd like to get them welded, or at least pinned. And the sooner, the better.

Thanks for any help that can be provided!

For Tuning get in touch with SHOZ123, look on V8sho.com for welders in your area but if I am correct look for Alfizt, he has his shop in Kansas if I remenber correctly, put a second generation transmission cooler to make the tranny last longer and last pinning its not an option for the cams. Just get them welded.

Al Fitz has a guy weld cams and he's in Grand Island, Ne. Sandrew from Omaha just had them welded a few months ago.

I finally ordered my tune from SHOZ123 last week, and am eagerly awaiting it.

For now I'm keeping the butterflies in it, but whenever my bad coil throws a code, they're out of there.

I recommend going to a junkyard and finding a GEN II ATX transmission cooler and installing it to your car.

There is also GB of a triple gauge A pillar from SHOBros.

Welcome

Thats a **** of a long drive for me. Wow. Thats probably....at least 5 or 5 1/2 hours, depending on traffic and what not. I'm in the middle of moving to a new house, and will the semester will be starting again very shortly after I get settled in. That and trying to get time off of work. Yeesh.

Thanks for the input everyone.

You complain for a 5 or 6 hour drive? I did a 20+hr drive each way to get my cams welded and it was worth it, 70k miles after still rolling. So you have few options: 1:Do the 5 hr drive to weld the cams 2: find somebody close to you that could experiment welding your cams (under the risk of destroying the engine) 3: neglent it and do nothing about it. The choice is yours.

The 5 hour drive is a great way to really get to know your car.

Everyone knows how much fun road trips are. :)

Plus on the road the SHO gets 26-27 mpg. I'd rather do that than drive in town like I have had to do the past week and get 10.3 mpg.
