I guess that this is not recommended? A friend of mine had this stuff lying around that he bought for his supra, but didn't use it. He gave it to me and I read on the bottle that it is SAE 70W80 API GL-4 gear oil. It says that it is not recommended for ATF cars. I think that I answered my own question, but wanted re-enforcement.

Would it be good for a 5.0 mustang?

Absolutely not. Gear oil in the SHO transaxle will shut you down. The proper Redline product for the SHO MTX is the D4 ATF.

Scott is plain wrong about the Redline MTL not working properly in a SHO MTX tranny. It will work fine. In some cars with the newer style fiber lined blocking rings the Redline D4 seems to work better. In cars with the older style all brass blocking rings the MTL WILL work better. When I put 100% Redline D4 in my 89's tranny it shifted like complete crap. It was next to impossible to hit 3rd gear without grinding. I replaced half of the D4 with Redline MTL and about 10% Redline MT-90 because I didn't have enough MTL to top it off. Shifts like butter now.

If your friend will just give you the MTL then by all means try it! If it gives you great shifting then stick with it. As long as the syncros agree with it the MTL will outperform any ATF fluid in manual transmissions that call for an ATF like the SHO.
