Ok,

I need to vent but if you want to skip the rant please look to bottom for question...LOL

First, this is the first SHO I have ever owned and as some are aware from previous post, I got a very clean 120K mile, original owner all receipts 94 ATX at a pretty good deal... shortly thereafter it developed a miss, compression on one cylinder was 0, pulled the heads had a cracked valve, sent the heads for a full rebuild. Decided to also do rod bearings, which quickly turned into just pull the engine and do rods, mains and rings just to eliminate worries when the heads came back. Took 3 weeks for the machine shop to finish with heads ?? Finally got them back on started it up and somehow the oil pump gasket was damaged and leaking like a sift, took it back apart to do the oil pump gasket again. Putting it back together the timing tensioner shaft broke! Using shoforum I converted the tensioner to manual and reinstalled, started it up again and noticed all 3 cam seals had a small leak. Seeing that I use Fel-pro first time I assumed that was the problem, bought national seals, took everything apart AGAIN and installed seals. Checked the cams for damage with a .99 cent led flashlight (which would later turn out to be a downfall) best I could see everything was pretty smooth. Put it all back together, finally got to drive it and it SPONTANEOUSLY stopped idling until warm. After lots of troubleshooting and pulling the intake 5 more times I found that the IAC was bad!! Replaced it, and upon reassembly I find all the cam seals are leaking AGAIN the rear one more than the other 2! So yesterday I once again use a work/spotlight to look at the cam surface and sure enough all three have a slight groove in them?? Not horribly bad, just enough to see and barely feel with a plastic pick. SOOOOO, I ordered 3 redi-sleeves from rock auto (this car is a test from GOD, apparently!!!!!)

My question is : Once the sleeves are on, should I remove the ****** or is there enough clearance to leave it on? If removing, how exactly is it removable? Thanks for any help, and YES! I feel better by just moaning and groaning about all my troubles!

I did the same thing with the aftermarket seals they all leak. Get some motorcraft cam seals. My cams had the same wear, and even some light scratches.

Just the seals. My cams have similar wear, and don't leak with good seals.

I have never heard of a SHO camshaft needing a redi-sleeve unless the shaft is scratched up during fumbled sealinstallation. Get a set of Ford seals, made in Japan by NOK, use RTV around the outer perimeter, grease the lips when installing, and keep it square to the housing as you push it in.
