I just checked my plugs and the electrode is a darker redish-brown color, more red than brown. What does that mean? I could not find the "reading plugs" page.

Here is a pic:

What kind of plugs are those?

other than the color of the insulator, that plug looks great. No corrosion, blistering, or deposits thumb

I think it means you've got a red insulator. Seriously! It looks like it's colored red, not covered with carbon. I've never seen burnt fuel leave any type of red deposit, although as soon as I say that, someone will show up with something I've never seen.

One of the last 'plug charts' I read said something about red insulators being from using too many additives.. But if you're not using any, could just be the plug. Does look good though.

I was going to ask if you've done a de-carb process recently; if you look at the cap, it looks like it's got very light red deposits on it.

You running DexCool & have a head gasket leak? (j/k)

The federal guvmint used to force the wholesalers to dye the gas that was sold to farmers for agricultural purposes. The intent was to see if it was used for non ag purposes, since there were no taxes on it, it would stain anything. I believe the color used was red. My wife's grandfather was a farmer and private pilot and used Ag gas in his planes. Stained his carbs and filter screens.

They are autolite platinum plugs. I have not used any additives and they were white when I got them. Only been using chevron premimum, 91 octane. Oh, What is the gap supposed to be at?
