The outer rear window gasket/molding looks old... 11 years old. After getting a car wash or driving in the rain, I can feel and see water eroding and discoloring my over-headliner in the rear.
I was comtemplating holding the molding open (outside of car) and filling up the void were the window meets the roof w/ silicone. Any other suggestions??

that may work or you could just have new seals put in around your window. because if you peel back that seal it might not just push back in and stay in, might just stay lose and flop around as you drive. i;d go for the new seals may cost a little more but it'll be worth it.
