Rear turbo replacement tool list?

I'm getting ready to replace my rear turbo tomorrow and wondering what kind of "specialty" tools you might need for the job. I need to get a fuel line disconnect tool, anything else along those lines I might need? Thanks for any help

Assuming you are taking the axle out and working through there. You don't need the fuel line disconnect thing if you just unthread from the block. Can't remember what size wrench that is though.

Off the top of my head:

22mm axle nut (1 1/4" works also)
Assorted 15mm wrenches/sockets
14mm for coolant lines (I think)
13mm maybe for the axle bracket for extra space?
torx for the oil feed
8mm socket for the drain line

Fuel line disconnect? I don’t remember disconnecting any fuel lines when I did mine. I went full retard since I was replacing my front struts and took the brakes off, the whole knuckle...passenger axle downpipes. I started with the front turbo....but you’re going to want all new oil/coolant line gaskets for sure. You have a lift? I did it with the front on Jack stands and I took the front bumper off so I could lean all over it, I had a small step(bench) that I would stand on and then be in the engine back kneeling on the engine....I had a couple foam pads to put on the engine to keep things nice...and protect my knees. The rear turbo, there’s a main oil feed on top of the turbo, bc of the space you’ll end up taking that off last....just remember to put it on first when you reassemble....I left it for last and I somehow....was able to get it on but only buy cutting tools to make them smaller in a last ditch effort to not have to remove it all over again. It worked...somehow.

Are you replacing any oil and coolant lines? You’ll lose maybe a quart of trans fluid pulling the passenger axle out of the ptu.

Okay, so I'm now wondering if I really need to replace the turbo. The inlet tube has oil on it, that oil line right near the axle has a tiny bit of oil on it, turbo itself is bone dry. No smoke on start up or driving. I also have no catch can or any sort of crankcase vent. Could oil just be blowing by the inlet pipe making it seem like a failing turbo? The car drives fine, boost and all that is fine. I think I jumped the gun a bit.

a little blow by is normal. take the down pipe off and check the compressor wheel for excessive play. a little is normal. this is the easy way to look at the turbo. spray some **** on the 3x 15 mm nuts holding the pipe on tho!

Very minimal play on the wheel, I put the down pipes back on and will keep my eye on it. At least I have the turbo for when it does blow.
