hey I have a question about brakes, what would cause that one brake only to rub or lock (whatever its doing) and overheat like that? I have had to have it towed a few times as a result of this and its annoying and even kinda scary if I was in the middle of no where and my brake lights up. Its been "fixed" 3 times now yet it still happens, I was hoping someone here could shed some light on this. I have heard a bunch of possible problems so I'd like to hear your take on it shrug

Mine did the exact same thing.. i replaced everything: cailper, pads, rotors, valve proportioning, metal brake lines whole nine yards but we forgot one thing- the RUBBER hoses- replace those and ull be set. They usually fail inside causing a collapse hose which will never release.

well here is what I have done so far: calipers, pads, e-brake cable adjustment, new e-brake cable, and a new hose (one right on the wheel to the brakes), dunno if thats the one you meant. I have heard to could be the proportioning valve, the master cylinder (one of the lines in it, possibly the return, could be blocked) and a few other things. If the hose I had replaced is the one you mentioned (and I'm almost positive it is), then what would you reccomend next?

Which e-brake cable did you replace? I think there are three altogether. It's got to be caused by either the e-brake, the slider pins, or the rubber hose. I suppose it could be the proportioning valve, but I think that's unlikely.

I had a similar problem and replacing the slider pin fixed it. Road dirt and salt don't help. It's not a bad idea to have those pins checked/lubed once in a while.
