No these are the GEN 3 rear bushings. Unique amoung Taurus SFB. The GEN 3 uses the same old front SFB. This bushing is a bit different in design and is much more stable. I believe there are some small tabs that will havet o be ground off to make them work up front but they will fit.

Here is a pic of all the bushings used on SHOs. from left to right..Gen 1,2,3 front, Gen 2 rear, Gen 3 rear, and the solid aluminum.

I have the Gen 3 rears all the way around on my 89, no issues, feel fine, low cost. Thumbs up to Paul on posting this way back when.

My '90 had the same SFB on all 4 spots (the ones like the front). Why do some have different setups?

My guess is the front bushings which are the same for all years were the original ones. Anyone with an '89 can confirm this?

Ditto. I have two 90's and an 89 and they all have or have had the bushing on the far left on all four corners. I used the Gen 3 rear bushing on all four corners of my 90 project car. Rides nice. thumbs_u There are two plastic tabs on the bottom piece that have to be ground off for them to fit, but it's not a big deal. They come off really easy with a grinder or dremel tool etc., but even a hand file and a few minutes will do the trick.

I just replaced my SFB's with Gen III units. Rather than grind the plastic locators off the SFB's, I ground 2 small notches into the sunframe itself, at each of the 4 locations. A previous post recommended using the large washers that came with the recall kit, when re-installing new bolts. As I torqued the bolts, I noticed the washers slightly collapsing towards the middle.
Ride is much improved.

I got two Gen III rear SFB to replace the rears on my '95. The fronts were replaced last year with the police SFC.

Is there a correct way to install these ? There is an oval center portion. Is it long axis of this oval suppose to be alined with the car front to rear or side to side ? Not sure where the slots are in a Gen III SF. TIA.

What is the difference between the regular SHO front SFB's and the police version? Is the police version poly?
I was thinking of using either the police version or aluminum front SFB's and the Gen III SFB's on the rear. Anyone know how that will work out or have any suggestions?
thanks!!!

If the Gen III uses the same old front bushings as the Gen II, and much better bushings for Gen III rear, which can fit on the Gen II rear;and the Gen II uses the SAME bushings for front and rear, why can't the improved Gen III rear bushings be used also on the front of the Gen II?
Seems like that would be an all around improvement!

But of course it can. There are some small ears that need to be removed on the Gen 3 rear bushing but otherwise they will fit just fine. Someone did this not long ago.

That is how they are on the Gen 3. I assume it is to help resist the lateral movement of the subframe.
