burned up ptu fluid smells bad. One of the symptoms that it's leaking is the smell
Spray if off with brake fluid. If you still smell it then you probably have a leak. Most likely it's just burning off the residue. Also check wherever you're parking to see if there are any stains from a potential leak.We just completed the oil exchange so I hope it's not leaking? (jury's still out on that though, I am monitoring) However, there is a lot of gear oil residue on the surrounding areas of the PTU. I wonder if degreasing that off would help?

I can imagine how bad it smells burnt. That stuff gets stuck in your nostrils.

I've got fresh pieces of cardboard under the car to monitor for dripping. Brake fluid spray? I'll have to get creative with the application.
I was going to use Simple Green and a TON of disposable cloth, but I'll give it a try.
