My rear brakes have just started to really make a grinding sound upon application. I am under a warranty for the calipers...but I think this is going to involve the rotors and for sure the pads. Can anyone verify the Ford part #BR35A for the pads..and should 598 be a part of this number as opposed to 601? I would like to have something to show the Service Advisor. It seems like a couple of years ago the 601 part number was to be avoided Thanks.

The rear brakes are common to all Taurii with rear disc. SHOs and SLOs. At least from '93 on.

Thanks Paul, I did not know that. I am taking the car in for service in the morning. Will report back....very noticable grinding..even a couple of the neighbors were gawking as I limped into the garage.

Cause you should be!

FWIW i changed out rear rotors and pads on my 96 this week for 75 dollars in parts and only took me an hour. Autozone sells a tool that retracts the caliper for 8 dollars. It's an easy fix!

I had the front and rear pads replaced and replaced a rotor. I have a friend who owned a battery shop and has plenty of space to work on our cars. We trade goods and services...so it worked out well especially since its about 95 degrees here and I had appointments all day. Also mofosho, Mr. Burtram....you sir are Batman....keep up the good posts. I like the one hour brake jobs etc..

Are the BR35A and the BR35B the same front pad?

Thanks Brent, I thought that was the case. Kind of like the telephone equipment I sell....they just keep adding letters every year or so.
