What is the name of the piece in between the tail lights and under them on a gen 2 taurus? I got one that got hit in the rear not hard enough to buckle anything but crunched the bumper, tail lights, trunk lid and the pieces under and in between the tail lights.

Gotta fix it. its only got 60k miles on it and its like new. Cleanest gen2 I have seen in a LONG time.

its the trim piece under the tail lights, lol.

there are two pieces, a left and a right. looks like you need both. they are the same as any Taurus of the same vintage.

I called them trim pieces also but looking at fords web site they call it like a bumper deflector i think. looks like part number 17808. I thought that was the bumper itself but if you look where it mounts it would be to high to be the bumper and that would place it under the tail lights. It is 1 piece that raps around 1 corner all the way across (license plate mounts in it) to other corner under tail lights and butts up to the body it self. I think its fiber glass. unless i'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time lol)

it is 2 pieces, a left and a right. there is a joint under the license plate.

they are some type of plastic, but not fiberglass.

You should be able to find an unlimited selection of those trim/filler pieces at the local 'U-pull' yard. There is a very good chance you will find color matching parts. That was a very popular color, a color I refer to as 'old man tan'.

I have a feeling replacement parts aren't going to line up. Something's gotta be bent just a little bit at least.

I plan on getting the parts at the u pull it. They do have a tan one there I think its the same color. Im sure I will have to do some bending to get everything to line up right. the reason I am asking what they call it is for the insurance company quote (new parts). I have found aftermarket or oem parts for everything else but this.
