Re-Manufactured waterpumps vs. New

Okay, in the words of Rage Against The Machine "Ignorance is taking over" that applies to me 100%. Thats what you guys are for. What are the differenced between a Re-Manufactured pump and a new one. shrug I know one is new and one is not but what are the quality differences. Should I spend the 100$ more on a new one??? Or are remanufactured ones just as good???? Any input would be appreciated!

Remans. are machined and wear parts are replaced to bring the used unit back into factory spec. There is always a chance that a subpar unit will escape into the part stream, but the reman. unit is usually a fine replacement. Especially if you make it a part of your ~60k maintenance routine. Get the reman. from Rock Auto.com- great prices and service. I'm not sure if it comes with the gasket or if you have to get it seperate (~$5). Email them and they will reply in a timely manner.

In the upper right hand section of the forum pages, there's a 'search' link which would help you find answers to questions like this that have been covered numerous times in the past. It's a great resource for the vast knowledgebase that's been assembled here!

Bottom line is go with the reman (A1 Cardone). It's as good as new, and unlike a new one has a lifetime warranty.
