Local shop says RCC is bad. If this were the case, would the auto functioning still work with the heat? I.E. blower speed adjusting to temperature. I just noticed it this morning as the blower speed reduced as the cabin temp rose. Knowing (being told) what the root cause of the ac malfunction is is a good thing, but when a new RCC costs $500, that's a bad thing. So there's a silver lining to whatever the answer is to my question.

Thanks

I am far from an expert on the heating and electrical system, but that sounds wrong to me. Though I suppose it could be that part of the RCC has died but another part is still working?

The shop in question is a good business, and I'm sure that if I were to pay the piper and have them do the work, they'd make sure that the system performed, even if it meant they had to resolve other issues on their own dime.

Might be worth while, then. IIRC, you cannot fix bits of the RCC, but rather have to replace the entire thing, normally with a factory rebuilt one from Ford.
