When I am on the decceration(sp) I hear a rattling sound coming from near my drivers side front tire and tranny. When I push in the clutch it goes away. Also say I'm going over like 20mph and downshift to first it doesn't like to go into 1st till maybe 15mph then it goes in easy it if I force it into first it doesn't grind or anything just is hard to get it in. I am thinking the rattling is most likely the throwout bearing? and I am not sure about the 1st gear thing, any ideas?

Thanks Dan

Sounds like a bad thow-out bearing. Sticky shifting = need new clutch. I just ordered mine from RCM automotive with new rod bearings and main bearings and gaskets. Altogether cost under $500. Now I just need to get someone to install it.

Good luck!

FWIW, I was told that you never, ever shift into first if the car's moving.

The rattling sounds like your t/o bearing.

ok after turning my radio down and just listening to my clutch this is what I have heard: it does not rattle all the time but I have not pin pointed when it will rattle. If I just go slowly off the clutch and give it no gas at all it does not rattle. I can downshift to first at around 25mph with no problem most of the time but anything over 25 I have to force it into first. Also I did that readjust procedure when I push up on the clutch and it didn't click or anything, when I first got the car(around april june of this year) I did the same thing to the clutch to readjust it but nothing happened how do I know if it readjusts itself?

Noise with your clutch pedal depressed = Throw out bearing

Noise with your clutch pedal released = Transmission noise

UPDATE: I had an exhaust leak for a while where the gasket is right after the cats. I went to replace it today, so I get the new exhaust gasket in and tighten up the to spring type bolts and just what no more rattling noise. Car sounds much quieter than it did before now that there is not as bad of an exhaust leak and there is no rattling. So far so good I have only taken it out for one 20min ride so far
