OH you didn't know
My brother and I are trying to diagnose a misfire and stalling problem on this '98 SHO. So far he's replaced two of the coils, cam and crank sensor. I did tell him to check the rear harness to check for melted wires. As far as I know, the cams have not been touched yet. My brother did tell me that when he unplugs the cam sensor, he hears a slight "ticking" noise. The car misfires and then stalls, sometimes it runs good, then stumbles then dies. I don't know anything about these GEN III's, any advice?

Assuming the cams haven't begun to spin it's probably the coils.

Hard to track down individual bad coils and the best thing to do is replace the back four with new ones.

This is after being sure the wires are not melted to the rear valve cover or together and after the cams are welded.

I have had like five or six coils start to go bad at once and once the cars ready for the road again it will have all new ones with just 4 replaced it still has a misfire occaisionally and it runs real lean.

from your description, it sounds like they have begun to let loose. becarefull with it. if you have a trailer handy Ill be in nashville in a few weeks and can fix it for you/him.

I would not run it and keep messing with it, if it is the cams its about to get lots worse.
