Random engine codes... doesn't make sense?!

Vehicle: 1989 MTX CA car w/ EGR & old style LPM (3.2 high compression motor w/ a SS LPM flash) tested @ normal running temps.

Engine off codes: 14, 41, 83, 87, 91

14: Ignition pickup was erratic - Ignitioon Systems
E4OD Transmission diesel RPM sensor - Diesel RPM sensor

41:(R) System lean - Fuel control (M) System was lean for 15 seconds or more (no HO2S switching) - Fuel control

83:High Electro Drive Fan circuit fault - A/C and Fan Circuits
EGR Control solenoid - Solenoids
3.0L SHO - Low Speed Fuel Pump Relay circuit - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

87:(O) Fuel pump circuit fault (check inertia switch) - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits
Vehicles with 2BBL carb - Temperature Compensated Accelerator Pump Solenoid - Solenoids
(M) intermittent in fuel pump primary circuit - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

91: (R, M) System running lean - Fuel controlll
Transmission SS 1 circuit/solenoid problem - Transmissions

Engine Running: 91, 14, 15, 25, 13

91: above.

14: above

15:(O) No Keep Alive Memory power to PCM pin 1 or bad PCM (Memory Test Failure)
(M) KAM (pin 1) was interrupted (was battery disconnected ?)

25: Knock sensor not tested (ignore if not pinging) - KS

13:(O) ISC did not respond properly (extends to touch throttle then retracts for KOEO) - ISC
(R) Idle Speed Control motor or Air Bypass not controlling idle properly (generally idle too high)
(M) ISC sticking, open ITS circuit or TP sticking

Ok, I'm not sure what to make out this? It seems to have flashed the 15 code only once (doesn't repeat this code. it's the first it shows on KOER), but everything is connected. I checked these codes 4 times. I have a 41 code (engine lean) w/ the KOEO so it must be in memory. What is with the code 83 and 87? Would this be a pump failure? I don't know what to think of all these codes! :oogle: Input would be greatly appreciated.

First off, get rid of the LPM until you get everything else fixed.

Second, define exactly what your drivability issue is. Many symptoms have common causes.

Thirdly, avoid using any generic code lists. Try to find the one that is specific to the car under test.

Reset the PCM (disconnect battery for 15 minutes).

Perform the IDLE RESET procedure.

Run PCM Quick TEST (KOEO and KOER) and see what you have from a basic starting point.

Repost results.

I see an arratic PIP, lean codes on both banks (possible vacu leak or LPM influence), an engine stall, improper idle speed control, a procedural error, and the LPM in the above codes. Need to narrow it down.

ok. Update!

LPM Unplugged, memory & idle reset.

KOEO: 11 code.

KOER: 91. 13. 25

Definitely running a lot smoother w/o the LPM, but still has an erratic idle. Why isn't it testing the KS? Due to an erratic idle? Still showing a lean code, but now it's running w/ a 80MM Lincoln MAF w/o a chip, so I guess that's not uncommon?

Does this mean my LPM chip is shot or needs to be reprogrammed? Anyone still programming these?!
