What are those things called that you drive your car up for about a foot or so clearance to work underneath with and where can I find them? It's not a ramp or a lift, they're two individual pieces made of steel.
Please helppppp

If it just raises the front, then yes, they are called RAMPS.

Rhino Ramps work great with non-lowered SHOs thumb

Autozone, Wal-Mart, Harbor Freight, Pep Boys; pretty much any car aisle in any store that sells car-related stuff.

If possible get the ones that have the support brace in the middle. Also get a set of wheel chocks. Where to get those, you ask? Usually in the box next to those ramp-things. wink

half-way there, I think.
I like to call them launchers, cause if you're not carefull you can launch them - Just ask Jason (AKA) YamahaSHO he knows what I mean. Seriously, becarefull driving onto those ramps, you want to avoid popping the clutch when you creep the car up them.

Split firewood is what's holding my car up the ramp at the moment, works good as a wedge under the rear wheels.

Also, DON'T settle for ramps that are not braced under where the wheels set. The last thing you want is a cheap ramp with no support to bow and pin you under the car. It's unlikely to happen, but I wouldn't take the chance.

I picked up my rino ramps for like 19.99 at kragen, they are so much better than jacking the car and really get it up nice and high. Word of advice, put the ramps on carpet because to SHO has so much torque and is FWD that it just spins the ramps out.

OUCH.... yeah, I really goofed on that one.

You don't want to pop the clutch too fast or you will launch them backwards like I did. Luckily there was no damage. headbang

Eeeeeeouch! I had my time putting my 89 up where I smoked that clutch trying to move it slowly. I have never used ramps since.

Ive never had any issues with ramps.
But I have a healthy clutch, and I ALWAYS have somebody watch me pull onto and off of the ramps.

Do you all think the ramps allow enough clearance to do the SS Y-Pipe install? That's the only reason I started this thread, because I dont want to pay for labor when I already have the part.

I run at stock height and I scrape my front end on them before my tires reach them but nothing a 2x4 can't fix!
