How do you know if you have a JBL system? I'm trying to put a radio in my car and I don't know what harness I need to put it in. Car is a 91

The gen 1 cars have Premium Sound wrote on the speaker covers.
I had an alternate radio put in my 90, and the installer claimed all the wiring was available under the dash that was needed for a radio that did not use the separate amp in the back.
To me, that indicated the car was set up to accept different configurations, right from the factory.

For GEN2 , look on the front speaker grilles.

Premium sound = base (Well theres actually a more basic system available , but only on regular taurii.)
JBL = JBL (obviously)

I heard that ''premium'' sound once and I thought it sucked.

The car is a 91 and it says premium sound on the door speakers.

Yes, I think so, it was JVC or JBL or something like that. Wish my car was outside, I could say for sure.

They say JBL on the speaker grills... Also, look in the trunk there will be amps that say JBL on them

What he said! Those are the easiest ways, assuming nothing has been changed. So many people have changed and replaced so many things for one reason or another that you may not be able to rely on the speaker grille for confirmation. Some had premium and may have been replaced w/JBL, but didn't change door panels and some may have JBL, but were replaced w/premium most likely due to parts availabilty.

Well I ordered a wiring harness from crutchfield and it has the amp wiring so we'll see if it works.
