but my question is, what is the small single ?blue? wire for??? is it the lead for the amps? or the antenna switch?? or does it matter??
im am still awaiting my faceplate, so i havent had a chance to actually test it out yet....

Just wired mine tonight...the single wire you speak of is for the auxillary controls. They of course wont work when you upgrade. Here is a connector pinout I modified in plainer english, and also a simple 5v regualtor circuit for the amp turn on. Some say it doesnt matter, but the amp is designed to take a 5v signal and I am fairly certain 12v wouldnt be the best for it.

Good info. SO this will allow the use of an aftermarket cd player with exisiting amps installed then? I guess I dont understand why you woundlt want to runt he speakers of the deck if its power was decent?

A lot of systems lack bass and sound "tinny" when you don't use an amp and hook the deck up directly to the speakers.

With an aftermarket deck, I have found just the opposite to be true.

That I get better response from the speakers when the deck is ran directly to the speakers and not through the factory amps in the trunk.
