The new "safe" antifreeze just tastes bad, so that animals won't be as inclined to drink it. Old antifreeze, if you have not tasted it, tastes kinda sweet. The "safe" stuff, ie Sierra, is still bad for animals, people and the environment but isn't quite as tasty.

Way to go guys. Now we are learning stuff. We learned about chemistry, electricity, ecology, and the cooling system. I love it. Keep it up folks this is great. :salute:

The new Prestone formulation (witch is basically Dex-Cool) is ethylene; as are most coolants because they transfer heat more efficiently than propylene based coolants do. The downside is that they are a bit more toxic.
