Hey guys
Well yesturday i took the intake off my car to clean it out and also change the ECT sensor and the plugs. Well I had no problem with changing anything except now when i start the car the fans stay on all the time. Could there have been something i missed when hooking things back up that would cause this? Also the car sounds louder like at 3000 rpms then when it did before. is that normal when u clean the intake out? It is almost like u can hear the secondaries start to kick in at 3000 rpms then at 4000 they really kick in. Dont know if by cleaning the intake that would happen. it just seems like it has more growl to it. Please any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For the fans issue, recheck the ECT connection. If good, check the ECT sensor to see if it is shorted. If the computer thinks the temperture is very hot, it will automatically turn on the fans.

At 50F and with a cold engine, the ECT should read 55-60K ohms.

At 70F with a cold engine, it should read 25-28K ohms.

The resistance should continue to drop as temperature rises, reaching about 1K ohms at 250F.

Did you perhaps use any "grease" on the connector that is conductive instead of dielectric grease? That could short the input to the computer.

Also likely that the new ECT is defective if nothing else is apparent.

If all that fails give the CCRM a rap with a screw driver handle. You may have a relay sticking on.

I believe if you have the defrost, a/c, or another setting on the EATC enabled, I believe the fan runs continuously...I could be wrong.

Not saying your dumb, but check to make sure the EATC is off or on vent? ;)

Do u guys think that the SCT i got from autozone is bad? what would u think the chances are of that? how would i know if it is or not it doesnt throw a code does it? i just cant figure out why the fans are always on now haha. i think that i am getting worse gas mileage now cause right now when i last filled up the tank to the peak i have been driving to and from work and it is down to a half tank and i have only gone 100 miles. it used to be closer to 120 before i changed the ECT sensor because the temp would never get passed the L on normal and i thought it was in open loop. but now i think it is worse. There wouldnt be any sensors i missed when i rehooked the intake back on that would cause the fans to always be on would there? i already found one sensor i forgot to hook back up. I would have marked everything but it was rainy and cold when i had to do it so i didnt :bonk: but please any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks a ton guys

I already gave you the information on how to test the ECT.

If you want to swap it instead of testing it, go ahead.

I never put any grease on it at all when i installed it. i didnt notice any on the old one so i didnt know i had to put it on it. I dont know how to check the ohms so when u said that i really didnt understand what u meant. i might throw the old one back on just to see if the cans go off. but thanks for the reply and if u can help any more that would be great.
