Quick strut rod bushing question...

Ok.. I got under my car for the first time in a while to replace a tie rod, and my LCA's. When I was looking at the strut rod in the front of the subframe, I was wondering how "smashed" that bushing should be. I got the blue MOOG bushings and they seemed to fit ok. I tightend it up with a 3/4 Impact even as tight as it would go, but it still seems like there is a small gap there. I didn't see anything as far as the cup rusting away from the subframe, so maybe its ok?

This clunk when letting off the gas, or stepping on it is driving me nutz! Everything *should be ok.. almost everything is new.. Maybe I just have a MM that is seperating and I just can't see it? When I have it above 2500 rpm in gear, and let off the gas in a hurry, it thumps like a MM.

I'm thinking its almost got to be the motor mount, even tho its a reinforced one, I think its failing. I got it from a shocago member years ago, and IIRC the only thing special is the larger sleeve instead of the bolt thru the middle. But I guess the rubber seperating could still be an issue with these mounts correct? Man I can't wait for warm weather...

Thats the only pic I have now.. I'll go out here in a few and see if I can get some more. I just got my LCA's installed yesterday, so Ignore that red bushing garbage in this pic. But mine are about as tight as you had em in that first pic. I just wondered if that edge there was supposed to be "squished flat" and not as visable maybe? I used a 3/4 Impact on that front one, with a wrench against the concrete floor.. so believe me its as tight as I could get it.

My problem must be that motor mount then... can't belive I smoked it so fast..+

We Sandblasted outside with a red speedblast (maybey its called speedblaster) cheap ass gun , took 5+ hours to prep this thing , the goo/oil on it was making the sand to bounce off , we had to scrape all the goo first.

Then we applied some nickel based green anti-rust primer in a spray , then 2 coats of regular primer in a spray. Then with a paint gun with professional paint (real car paint + clear) we painted this with a base coat/clear coat. This clear doesnt yellow.

And yes I did mine too with a Ingersoll gun until the gun stopped turning. You should be all good.

Monroes cheap stuff from rockauto 'someting-o-matic' , works like a charm.
I got the rotors from ebay , but I was told they are gonna crack , im gonna use them maybe for a year and go with the 13" upgrade.

Not monroe sensatracks , its the one cheaper , Monroe-matic I think is the correct name. These are shocks only . They are mated with Moog Cargo coils that I installed myself with a coil compressor.

The monroe quickstruts are shocks WITH coils ALREADY installed on them .

is it possible to change the front strut rod bushings, the ones the surround the frame, without dropping the ball joint and all that. Can you just unbolt the strut rod from the ball joint and pull it back so you can throw some new bushings on the front?

This topic may provide some interesting information on the subject. I had a problem with Moog TPR bushings in the strut rod application.
