Yes, above said it. I installed a new fuel filter and I forgot to do the little turn pump on and off a cuple times then start. Well I cranked and remembered at the time and immediattely turned it off and did the process and then started the car. I had some weird noise and was like WTF and turned it off. So now, I get this hum noise and I jump out and pop the hood still like WTF and it starts to try and crank itself. Oh man, head to the garage looking for the 1/2" before this motor blows on me and disconnect the battery cable and when putting it back, it starts the crap again and I have a lot of crap to do right now and places to go. Please let me know what this is and if it's easy to fix or am I F'd like Chuck? Thanks in advance guys/gals.

Anybody, please I have 2 hours to make a 50 mile trip and still fix the car and do some other things and make another trip to be somewhere. I think if my fuel pressure would hold itself after the key is off, it would start itself back up and be running, but there's no fuel pressure when I turn the ky off and it's been like that for a long time.

That is very strange... Is it deceling (Still running after you shut it off) or do you mean that it is just cranking on its own without touching the key? Please elaborate a bit more please.

If it is cranking without the key being turned, that normally means a shorted starter solenoid/relay.

On a 93, that means replacing the whole starter. Have fun.

Don't get your ******* into a wad just because your perception of urgency is not the same as everyone elses. We all have places to be and things to do. Your immature attitude towards the lack of immediate response won't get you far...

WTF, I have it runnng already and got it fixed and I don't have to replace the whole starter. Did I mention it wasy 93? Nope, MTX Gen. I. boink I found ou after my starter was smoking an not disengaging. eek!

For people doing searches, it was my new solenoid that was week old that oviosly had a defect. thumb

No offense meant PS89, I have to go now an you were right on the money. Just didn't need to come across wrong, I didn't think I did. shrug

Damn starters. You made out lucky. My friend'/s firebird starter solenoid came detached from the starter. Apparantly it was epoxied on. THe y-pipe had to be half lowered to replace it. I'm beginning to figure out why they discontinued that car for the time being.
