quick e brake question

in a 94 atx is the e-brake supposed to automatically shut off when you put it in drive?, is that the way they were made?....i put the e-brake on, and it stays on whn i put it in reverse and nutral as soon as i put it in drive it automatically pops up, thanks

YEAH IT WAS THE SAME IN MY 93 ATX, WHEN I ALWAYS PUT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE THE E-BRAKE RELEASE PEDAL POPED OUT/ LETTING THE REAR CALIPERS FREE ..
