Answer: What are the two things I dislike most about my car.

Is anyone working on a chip to eliminate these altogether? Maybe a chip with a "performance mode" button that you could mount inside your car for those special occasions. It might also make the computer stiffen up the steering and suspension all at the same time. Am I in a dream world or is this a possibility?

By the way... my computer is an AWL1. Does this mean anything to anyone?

Thanks in advance?

I was aware of the steering and suspension mod but I was more wanting to focus on the timing and shifting issues.

I paid very close attention to it this morning and this is an actual account of the events that took place:

I nailed the gas pedal
Car accelerates like rocket
Timing starts pulling back
2 minutes go by
timing done pulling back
I read a magazine
Tranny starts to shift
I take a restroom break
Tranny done shifting
I run a Chinese fire drill
Timing starts to come back
World peace occurs
Timing fully returns
car accelerates like a rocket

This is great for daily driving and for the longevity of the tranny but if there was a "performance mode" switch that were available that held full timing and shifted harder I would be first in line to buy one. I bet it would buy you 1/2 to 1 second in the quarter!

If you take your car to someone who knows what they are doing they can rebuild the tranny and put in an extra clutch and steel on each of the gears. They can also add washers to make the solenoid travel less.

And you can get a chip that will lessen the timing retard during shifts.

Paul, how much improvement did the fordchip help out with the timing and trans shift points and firmness of the shifts. Also did it take away your top speed limiter, and rev limiter.

I had the trans shift points left OEM, as well as the rev limiters. I have not ventured past 140 since I installed it. Firmness and quickness of the shifts is definately improved by way of not retarding the timing as much.
