okay i dont know what you call them on the 3.4 engine but they sit on top of the valve and you have a shim that is on top. and the cam push on the shim and the cap looking thing to open the valve. well i have two that just fall out when i turn them upside down or use a suction cup tool that you use do valve grinding by hand. the other 30 do not come off how can i keep these tight? does the oil hold them in ? because these are dry.

If you are talking about the aluminum cups that go over the valve assembly and hold the shim, it is called the valve tappet, according to the book. they should come out with little or no help... the oil keeps them in, but should also allow them to come out if you pull them straight out with the suction cup tool. I can't imagine why they would be completely dry, unless you haven't started the car in a while... Has this been sitting a while? Are you doing a rebuild?
