I didn't do an excellent job documenting stuff when I took the intake off to replace the rear spark plugs, and now I got two pieces i'm a little stumped with.

First is, I don't remember taking a gasket off of this piece, but it sure feels like their should be one here (maybe i'm just dreaming). But I checked to make sure I didn't take a gasket off and checked around to see if maybe it dropped off, but could not find anything, so I'm guessing it doesn't need one but I don't want to screw it back on and find out it does need one.

The second is this piece, I thought i knew back where it went, but the fuel rail blocks it (just left of the intake butterflies)

Hello, first pic: It does need a little tiny metal gasket, if you lost it it's gonna be a pita to find it. (happened to me before)
Second pic: That braket goes under the vacumm hose for the fuel regulator, the single hole goes to the rear and the two holes thru the front towards the fuel regulator, its hard to miss because you should see three holes on the side of the intake tubes.

searched all over the engine bay with a flashlight, mostly in the area where i thought it might have fallen, no luck..........so off to the garage to see if it might have been placed in some mysterious place!

And heres the website...

Alternatively...make your own from gasket material that you can get at any parts counter (cept Fords)

i definitely did not see that when i took it apart!!! >.<

*is wondering if it may have something to do with the suspected air leak on my car and loss of power*

I have lost about a half second on my 0-60 time, and my 1/8th mile time was about half a second slower than what it should have been (10.5-10.6 @ 68-70)

btw....could you tell me what that part is, or a part number for that gasket piece?

thanks for the help!

edit #2 - i found it, but it says it's for a 3.2-3.0L.....

I guess it doesn't matter as long as it fits?

The correct metal EGR gasket is available at your local Ford dealer for $11.46 (list price). The part number is F6DZ9D476AA, and it's common to most 96+ Tauruses & Sables, so most dealers should have one on hand.

You should also look around the top of your transmission bell housing, because that's most likely where it landed (and probably sideways so it's even harder to see). A telescoping magnet down there may help find it.
