my question is how does the 2 speed fan work in the mtx. when the high speed option kicks in does the car run the fan then through both electrical lines running the fan with 24v, or is there a secound set of windings.
my question is becaue I am wiring a aftermaket fan into my 95mtx and I am trying to figure the best way to do this. I don't know which side will be maintain the temperature correctly.

I think there is a second set of windings. because i woundnt think the car puts that much out. the alternater puts out arround 14v i belive so it woundnt have enogh power if it was supposed to do the 24v. but i really dont know too much about it so i would say...........experiment!:thumb:

i hope this helps a little

You will use the speed of whichever hot wire you splice into. I don't remember if the brown/orange is the high speed or low speed, but a wiring diagram will tell you. So you will be able to always have either high speed or low speed but not both. Ideally, you should find another two speed fan so you can take advantage of both. I used one from a regular 94 taurus and it worked fine. I just had to cut the plastic fan housing to fit but it was easy.

The two speed operation is by reduced voltage for the low speed just like the heater fan. There is a big resistor somewhere.

well I wired it into the low speed side of the fan the brown with orange stripe. and I seems to be working fine for now eventually I would like to add a pusher fan on the front and use the high speed to do that. I just have to figure out how to get them to mount overlapping each other.
