Question - not a big deal but was curious ...
My understanding is that CPO from Ford follows the vehicle.

I am looking at a car that was sold as Ford CPO by a Ford dealer, traded in at a different Ford dealer then went to auction and is being sold by a NON ford dealer.

Now, since it was sold as CPO once in its life, as long as the CPO is still active and wasnt requested for a refund, it should still be covered correct? ( you can see it listed on the Carfax as Sold as a Ford Certified Pre-Owned vehicle).

Can I call any Ford dealer locally and provide the VIN to see if it is covered by CPO? How do I check?

Thanks in advance..... yes I missed on that other car - by 2 hours ( was on a plane and missed out on purchase).

Once it as been Certified and legitimately sold as Certified, that warranty continues for its duration. I know for a fact that is the case on Lincoln, and I believe it is the case on Ford as well.

Yes, you can contact a Ford dealer - it will be in Oasis as Certified if it is. Contact the service department and just tell them you want to verify that the vehicle is certified.

Well I did just that - it comes up certified - but states in OASIS that the name has to match the owner for the warranty to apply.

That doesn't make much sense as I thought one of the selling points is that it is transferable.
Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

I just went through this with my '11 SHO. It had the extended warranty and was sold by a non-Ford dealer.

To transfer the warranty, I was told I would need to get the PO (previous owner) to sign the transfer paperwork. Not knowing the PO and without the time to hunt him down (and find out what he was thinking trading in a SHO with 22k miles for a *gasp* Dodge!!), I carried on and was able to purchase my own warranty.
