So I've owned my SHO for about 8 months. Thus far I've put on about 9,000mi (more than I want but my job requires a little bit of driving)

So far this is the list of issues and problems (with descriptions) I've had with my brand new vehicle.

Tail Light Chrome

I couldn't find the TSB on this but both tail light assemblies had issues with the chrome peeling.

Clicking Noise Under Front End

There was a loud clicking noise coming from the front end of my car when I put it into drive, reverse, and while I turned the vehicle traveling between 5-30mph. It also popped when I hit small bumps.

The dealership had my vehicle for a total of 5 days. The replaced the tie rod ends without a fix.

They then spent the rest of the time with the field engineer in which he performed a "fix" (http://www.shoforum.com/showpost.php?p=1193427&postcount=43).

As of right now the popping noise is still there on the right side when I put the car into drive or reverse. The dealership cannot replicate the noise and there is no fix in sight.

TSB 10-6-2

Rear package tray/speaker rattle/buzz with radio on.

The dealership is looking at this issue today and tomorrow.

TSB 10-17-3

Front Brakes - Grunt and grinding noise.

While trying to duplicate my awd issues the service tech noticed my vehicle is beginning to make loud grinding noises upon braking.

This shall be replaced or fixed today and tomorrow

10-18-7

Speedometer indicator needle sticking or inaccurate.

This has happened twice so far. The first time I was going 40mph and all of a sudden my speedometer read 80mph. I slowed to a stop and the needle stuck at 40mph. Both times I've had to shut my car off and restart it for the speedometer to correct itself.

This is being fixed today and tomorrow.

10-22-4

AWD Issues: Shudder/Chatter/Vibration on turns

I just started to notice this lately since we've seen a few snow dustings in CO. I took it in and so far the vehicle has failed one of the two tests for this tsb but they cant get the car to replicate the problem so they're going to try again tomorrow. They are unsure whether they'll do the TSB fix if they cannot get it to replicate the shudder I experience. If they do I was informed that they'll be replacing the transfer case.

Navigation Screen Turning Off

My navigation screen has started to flicker and randomly shut off until i restart the car. They've replaced one of the sensors but the problem is coming back.

Premature Tire Wear

At 8,000mi I took my vehicle in for a low tire pressure light and figured I'd perform another oil change / tire rotation. I was informed that the middle treads of my front two tires were wearing very fast. One tire was actually wearing faster than the other. (All 4 tires checked in at the same psi)

I took my car to the dealership that sold me the vehicle and pointed out the speed in which my tires were wearing and they informed me that it was to be expected with 'performance' tires on a 'performance' vehicle. They said that it had nothing to do with an alignment issue. I questioned that primarily because of all the suspension work they performed for the clicking noise.

Since the first issue with the clicking noise I have refused to bring my vehicle back to that dealership. I have been taking it to a different one that services all of our fleet vehicles. The person I deal with there said he wouldnt be surprised if I have to replace my tires at 16,000mi with the rate they're wearing.

SUMMARY:

Out of all the vehicles I have driven I have never had as many problems as I have with my SHO. I am beginning to question Ford's quality control. If I would have known I would go through this many headaches just for the privelage of being an owner of a new car in its "guinea pig" year I would have never purchased it. In fact the reason I purchased this car is because my Lincoln Aviator was creeping up in miles and I figured I get a new car to avoid all the future problems with that car. Yet here I am now with a brand new 40k car with less than 10,000mi that has more problems than I can count.

This vehicle is no longer fun to drive. Each time I'm in the car I'm just waiting for something else to go bad. Overall this car may make me lose my brand loyalty....

Oh and God forbid I attempt to ever increase the performance of my car even if it is past its warranty. With the luck I've had with my car I wouldnt be surprised if it would blow up as soon as I changed anything whether it be intake/exhaust/tune.

I should have bought a Caddy CTS-V

Sounds like you got a bad one. I have 5k on mine and no issues at all. I wouldn't blame the quality control just because you got a bad one of the batch.

Unfortunately this is the same response I get from Ford.

"Im sorry you got a heap of cow dung, unfortunately it happens and you'll have to put up with it.

PS: please continue sending in your car payments"

EDIT:

Sorry, I am so frustrated and disappointed. I work extremely hard to afford this car and it just eats at me knowing I get in it and expect something else to fail.

Sorry to hear that you're having problems with your SHO. It sounds like your dealer is at least trying to work with you...or is the dealer giving you a bunch of grieve about your problems? Mine goes in tomorrow for 10-17-3. I am going to complain about the run-a0round I got when I first tried to schedule for this. Let us know how you make out. Good luck.

I guess a lot depends on the dealer. My dealership has been great. They have fixed all of the issues but one (dumb BLIS indicator, but I haven't taken it back yet to let them try again) quickly and done all the TSB related complaints, even if they couldn't replicate they problem.

Does yours have the performance package with the Eagle F1's?

I had a pair of GY Eagle F1 DS-G3s (different than the F1's on the SHO) on my '95 and I think they lasted less than 10,000miles, with even wear. I drove them pretty hard, but they are still a soft performance tire and not designed to last, just grip. I wouldn't be surprised to see the SHO's Eagle F1s only last 15K. Now if you have the Michelins, IDK what to tell ya

So far my car has the chrome coming off the taillight trim and the sun shade rattle in the back from the speakers. I'm waiting just a little longer to see if any of the other issues arise before I bring my car in for service.
