hey all,

how you'll doing.. well i wanted to know what are the symptoms of noticing or tracking down when your axels or wheel bearings are bad.. i recently had put brand new tires in my car with in last week well balanced and also a four wheel alignemnt, but the thing is that i feel the steering wheel shaking at between 60-75 miles/hour.. and also i feel it at the floor too like vibrating .. i wonder what it is or maybe should be tie rods or ball joints ( control arm units) sway bar links ( i know the boots on them are a little ripped) or should it be a steering rack and pinion, ( which i almost forgot when you trie to turn the seering wheel a little to the left or to the right reapidely you hear and feel this kinda of knoccking - nock - nock)

any advice on what to change or check for please let me know

thanks

I just did axles, and a hub/bearing kit for ea side and it is awesome to have a solid feel again. Near the end of my old set up it vibrated btwn 70-80 and also had a low rotational hum btwn 40-60 with at 60 the loudest. Could hear it best with the windows rolled up. Another thing gone is a high pitched whine or screech I'd hear when going thru an underpass on the frwy at speed. Could never hear anything at slow speed. Also got rid of chatter when letting out the clutch. 203k and its the third set of axles and 1st time wheel bearings were replaced. I suggest replacing them if you have any snaping when letting out the clutch or hitting the brake, when they get real bad the noise gets louder and then does it going into turns. You may only hear one side however mine did it on both sides.

Put your hand on the top of either frt. tire.finger tips over the backside top of the tire.. pull out and push in to the point of shaking the whole car and if you will find there is in & out slop in the bearing if the bearing is bad. Check the rear too, the same way. These bearings are very important to steering stability. Front or back.
