What up everyone! So today I got out of work and got in my car and noticed the car would not detected my FOB. I put the fob closers to the radio and tried to start, still nothing, did not crank, did not click nothing. So I popped my hood and checked to see if my battery was dead. It was low but not dead. So I put a jump pack on it and still nothing. Next I automatically started my car and it started with no problem. I said wtf! So I disconnected the battery to reset the start circuit and then reconnected it, I pushed the start button and it detected my fob and started with no problem. Question is what caused this problem? Why was my FOB not detected? (It has a new battery) Any help would be great.

Thank you,
SHOHARD

Not sure about the 13+ but my 2010 has a spot in the center console were your supposed to put the fob durning communication issues.
I've used it once durning a low battery issue with the fob.

That spot is in the glove box on my '13 MKS. Took a lot of research to figure that one out since there's no mention in the owners manual.

Totally thought that was a place for storing my stash.... Good to know it's actually designed for something useful!!!

Learning new stuff about these cars everyday....I also had no idea what that little spot was for.

Unrelated to the OP's original issue but I would also recommend figuring out how to shift the car into Neutral if the battery is dead and it needs towed. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it on my 2010 as it doesn't have a little hole near the shifter.

That spot is actually on the underside of your center console. Open it up and look at the underside. I had my car a year before I realized all those storage spots were there.

so there are interference issues possible that will prevent the car and fob from communicating properly, that is why each vehicle has the special spot where you put the fob if they are having problems with communication.

there is a hardware store a few blocks up from the Lincoln dealer - any time any of us would take a keyless start vehicle there, it would not detect the fob. There must be some kind of electromagnetic field going on right in that spot to cause that.

the point is that everyone needs to know that special spot to put the fob when that happens, because some day it will. and if you don't know the spot, then it will happen at night in the rain when you are late to some important event...
