Lol...and you bought a SHO with that in mind?
If you read well, he had a Jag... so just that car by itself cost annualy more than the next 4 years of maintenance for the SHO !!!
Plus, to have a second car, means means 2times insurances, license plates, tires change, etc.
So, I think he is thinking wisely in keeping only a SHO...

Yeah, thanks for clearing all that up.

Congrats on the new car, hope you enjoy it. I run the Michelin tires year round, although I do have two other vehicles so the SHO doesn't see much of the snow or rain weather. I really hate rust too, so I try to only take the Sho out when the weather is nice, although it's hard to avoid the rain sometimes. Anyway, enjoy the new car and welcome to the group.

As for the rust, it all depends on how long you intend to keep your car... I know that even though I can love a car, I like to change after 3 years... maybe this one will see 4-5 years, so rust is never an issue for me, so I run it all year round good weather or not. After all, this is part of the reasons I bought an AWD car, so that I can run a performant car in the snow and in the rain... : )

Steve, I was with you about changing cars often, but since retiring and having a smaller fixed income, son in college, and a wife who is not a gearhead, I have learned (read: "Been forced by my loving wife") to keep a vehicle for much longer. I think that is the reason I have become **** about cleaning and maintaining my vehicles. But honestly, to this point of ownership with the SHO (It was 1 year anniversary on 14 August). I haven't looked or really wanted another car....well, I did try to run the idea of a GT-500 or a 'Vette by my wife using the reason: "Well, Colin (Showgun) was allowed to have a Vette, I think I should be allowed to get a second car too." As I said I tried, but wife didn't buy my reasoning....

Very funny! Now the big question : How long do you think the SHO will last with all the mods and inspired driving? No one knows how tranny will do over time... That is part of why I like to change more often... But one thing though, I told myself I wouldn't want to buy a new car anymore... Unbelievable that a brand new SHO can lose up to 30% of its value in one year... I prefer to leave that lost to previous owner. So if I can keep my car 4 years and bought it 35K instead of 53K (yes, 53K here in Canada excluding taxes!), and sell it let's say 15K, then it cost me 5K$/year to drive the equivalent of a brand new car... not too bad and it allows me to change more often. If I would have bought it new and keep it for 10 years, then I would sell it for 7K, so it would come to 4,600$/year, a difference of 33$ per month... So I guess buying it used and changing more often, for me, is the best of the 2 worlds!
Cheers
P.S. And the maintenance fees after 4-5 years are way more expensive than what I would save.. so all-in, not worth it imo

Congrats on the ride. I work at Avis Ford and we appreciate the business. I've been looking at your car everyday and saw it cleaned up for delivery. Hope everything works out and you enjoy your vehicle.

But congrats on the new SHO and welcome . I'm not far from you too. Gonna take it to Woodward this weekend?

I think you'll be fine with the all season tires in the winter. I live in Detroit Metro now, but grew up in Buffalo, NY and the snow they get here is nothing IMO. I drove an '03 Crown Vic with all season tires all year around Detroit for 3 years with no issues.

As for rust, even though you mentioned you probably won't have it long enough to worry about it, I would still highly recommend an oil undercoating treatment before the winter. I go to a place in Windsor in called Krown (just a few minutes across the border near the airport). That way if you keep it longer you're covered or for the next owner down the road, it will be much nicer and probably increase its retail value. They did my F-350 and did a great job. My truck came rust free from NC and I plan to keep it that way.

Congrats!!! Nice pics, esp that last one!!! Perfect reflections on the hood and the side of the car :) Those are my favorite type of shots - no flash, natural reflection. Nice work!!

So what's been your favorite thing about the SHO so far??

That's funny because I traded in my Escape on the SHO, and before that traded in my 96 SHO on the Escape which was the winter car/daily driver for my Jaguar. I kind of want to get back to driving one car and not have to deal with the expense of maintaning two vehicles.

LOL...one...no 2 steps ahead of me.

Yep, it sure does move off the line! One time i was lined up next to a Acura TL and I smoked him, and at the next light he was like 'Is that the new SHO? It looks awesome...first time seeing one. Very impressive with how you moved off the line'.

It was in my first week of owning the car..i was pumped after that!
