So I took my 2010 SHO into the local Ford dealership today to have them possibly change my ptu fluid. They said that they wouldn't even touch it because it isn't serviceable. Hmm.. Guess I'll be buying an extractor and having a blast.. 62k miles and been driving it like a race car i'm sure that fluid is just shot.

Will be interested in fluid condition. Most people have reported it comes out thicker than molasses, so patience will be required. Stinks too, so be careful not to get in contact with it.

Consider having it analyzed at one of those places where you send away a sample of oil.

There are lots of stories of the original mixture being thick or whatever because there is a break-in additive in the brew.

I would think that your issue is in the category of serviceable.

Two weeks ago I took Candy to the stealership for the 2010 tail light recall - I asked for a quote. They said $189 per differential. I looked the job up in the service manual and MAY attempt this if can rent a lift. The ECOforum had a pretty good tech article with picts.

Oh btw - service manual said if the units become submerged (presumably any water above the centerline of the wheel) and they need to be replaced! Ouch! There should be a BIG warning sticker on the dash for that piece of info!

I would think if the vent tube is extended into the engine bay, as it is when the vent TSB is performed, that submersion warning would be moot, no?
