Looks good! I have an extra intake manifold and valve covers I need to paint up. I was thinking of sanding the manifold down, but it's going to take forever!

Are there sparkles in there or something? Good job keeping it one color, deffintly.

I was thinking about buying some regular spray paint and doing my intake runners and valvcovers but wont the paint peal off cause of the heat and what not. Or do you need to sand it down first. Iv alwasy been told powdercoating is the way to go if you want it to last longer.

Try to find some sort of engine enamel as this resists heat and oil. But this depends on the color you want. Colors other than your basic orange, red, blue, etc. will be harder to find. But if you can find high heat paint in the color you want, by all means get that. It can stand the abuse. :thumb:

And yes, it is all in the prep work on how it turns out.

In my experience... engine paint is okay but there are certain things you must watch out for:

1.BY ALL MEANS follow instructions for coat/recoat time, if not then it will will not adhere right.

2. Don't build up too much, it will actually crack if you get it too thick.

3. Engine paint is NO friend of brake fluid either. If it gets on the paint, then it will soften it-possilbly making it run, and and for some reason it stays sticky/wet:shrug:

4.It likes to chip, or is more prone to chipping.. and loves to scratch. Haven't really looked into why it does this, possilbly from the ceramic in it, dunno.

Oh well, hope this helps, so that there is no flaming: what I have stated above is personal accounts, not to say you will have the same problems but be weary- I am a painter and know how to prep surfaces and properly apply paint.

Is that like a gun metal? Or purple with silver flakes in it? I have been wanting do my spare set of slicers and paint them gun metal. I even have the duplic color paint to paint them with. They are just like in the back of my barn with the tires still on them from the silver bullet. It is just to much work to do intill it gets warmer. Take the tires off.. paint the rims take the red sho to the shop. Have them take the tires off the red sho and put them on the painted slicers! Way to much work for right now! lol But it will look good when it's done! ahh summer time can't wait!
