Program Key DIY with one fob?

My 2010 SHO only came with one fob and I would like to have a second just in case. I see blank ones online that do not come with programming so I was wondering if there is a way to program a blank fob? I see on Ford's website that they say you need two fobs in the car in order to program a third but again I only have one fob and would like a second. I really would like to avoid a trip to the dealer. I do have access to a Autel Maxisys (not the pro) and it shows two fobs programmed to the PCM and apparently you can program up to four.

If you have two fobs you can program the third as the owers manual says.

If you have one the dealership or someone with IDS software is going to have to program the second. The good news is they can erase all old keys so an old fob won't start the car. The key will still operate to manual door lock.

After you get two keys you can program a third yourself.

If you have 3 and loose one you can program a new one following the owers manual to have 3 again. If you want the dealership can again erase all keys and program the remaining fobs.

If you loose your one key there is a chance the B.C.M. will have to be replaced to program 2 new keys. $$$$

You can also use forscan to program the key but will need to ask for a special short term license

Explore the special menus of the Maxisys. My Autel DS708 has successfully programmed new keys and fobs to Fords where the owner only had one key. I fortunately never had a reason to try it on my SHO though so I cannot say for certain that it works on the newest Fords.

Were these "unique" keys or were they "clone" keys, do you know, SHOrod?
