My 93's stock MAF went bad and is reading 0.0 volts, causing corresponding 157,172,176,177,178 codes, not to mention very poor driveability problems. Ive checked and cleaned the connections, but the sensor is shot. I'm making a trip to the U-Pull It and was wondering if there is a way to pre test a MAF off a junker for output voltage before pulling it and playing the trial and error game searching for a set of good electronics by installing it and waiting to see if it throws a code.
Thanks In Advance

Nope. Put it in the car and see if it does the trick. You should be ok with a used one just clean it with some spray electronics cleaner. I doubt a faulty MAF is what put it in the junkyard. Better yet, find a sho owner parting a car with a known working one and buy that.

Thanks, I was afraid of that...maybe I'll get lucky and find a good one on the first try. Even if it takes a few attempts its still better than forking out the cash for a new one- ITB. I couldnt find any cheaper than 160.00 and up to 300+ for OEM
If anybody in the Chicago area has a working one they dont need and want to help a brother out with give a shout.
Thanks Again

Check the classifieds here and also the ones at shoclub.com. You should be able to find one easily.

Thanks, I thought of that, but I'm a little concerned about the filaments getting damaged during shipment, and with the cost of shipping pulling it myself would probably save me a couple o' bucks....then again theres always a chance someone local has one listed. Thanks for the suggestion though, I'll give them a look.

I have bought a few MAF's and had them shipped. The filament is tucked safely inside a thick metal tube (the MAF housing) and then packaged with stuff for shipping. I wouldn't hesitate to buy that part and get it shipped.
