I read that they need to move to alow the clutch to engage. Is that right? if in fact they do move, if they could not move would that cause the clutch not to disengage/shift??

before i put the tranny back in, i want to make sure that my PP is not the problem.
does the PP have to be perfectly balanced?
also, i was unable to remove 2 of the 3 dowel pins.. but i replaced 1. Could that cause the flywheel to become too unbalanced?

Clutch

Heya,

First off, the straps I am thinking you are refering to are there for damping of the forces generated by engine/transmission engagement. You probably cant make them move by hand at all. The clutch assembly needs to be balanced as perfectly as possible or you will have drivetrain related vibrations. And as for the dowel pins, they are there for a reason, you should try your best to install all of the dowel pins as they help insure the strength of the clutch assembly. Anyone correct me if I am wrong at all, but I believe this all to be true.

Hope it helps!
