Hey all,

I was reading this post and noticed that after flushing his power steering, ILLSHOU mentioned that he added a conditioner to his power steering fluid and now it's silent. Rather than hijack that thread, I thought I'd start my own...

The power steering in my '94 MTX has moaned fairly audibly (turning the wheel when at or near stationary) since I bought the car. I recently had the system flushed, and the moaning persists. Would you recommend a conditioner for power steering fluid? Can anyone recommend a good one? Can I expect this to help my situation?

Thanx for any info!

Thanx Steve!

Could there be air in the system even though it was just flushed? I had Ford flush it while they were doing some other, more challenging work for me, but that doesn't mean that the flush was done well or even properly...

To be sure, purging consists of jacking the front wheels off the ground, and with the engine running you turn the wheel back and forth from lock to lock a few times, right?

Thanx again,

Lucas oil has a very good additive, but it's kinda hard to find if you don't know where to get it.

Lucas does make a great product, but thier power steering additive is also a stop leak... and when avoidable i would steer anyone away from a stopleak outside of being for a temporary fix

2 oz of Auto-RX is what I'd recommend. It completely cured my "pulsing in a long sweeping turn" problems. Everyone told me I needed a new pump.......
