My power steering hardens up when im taking corners resonably quickly. I notice it most when turning left. Slow turning is just fine.
I recently had a brake pad wear too far on the front passengers side and it started scraping up the rotor. I relaced the pads but the rotor is warped now. Could a warped rotor be causing problems with the steering?
When i did the breaks i had to tighten the wheel nuts up without the aid of a torque wrench. I tightened them up in a star pattern and did my best to give them all the same torque. How much torque do i need to give the wheel nuts exactly? I'll do it properly when i replace the rotors.

The warped rotor should have no effect on the steering. The loss of power assist could be due to a slipping belt. Check the tension. if the tension is okay, there may be a problem with leaking internal seals in the rack.

The lug nut torque is 85-105 lb-ft.

I was going to ask the same question. For several years now my power steering has infrequently cut out on a quick turn forcing me to muscle the wheel through the turn. It is mostly during left turns for me as well. The speeds are not excessive, just normal for the particular road situation.

Edited to add: My problem is not related to the brakes.

Also the pump could be on its way out. That's what happened to my ATX. Once in a while assist would be lost when in a turn. It gradually moved on to happening more often. I replaced the pump and those problems went away.
