Kurt,

Can you detail your setup? I have been considering a low pressure FI sytem for my SHO, but I do not want the hassles.

Any problems with belts?

How did you save the "tuning" to your eec? You are not running a chip?

What size injectors? Which Vortech Supercharger and what size pulley?

Ect, etc, etc...

The blower belt rubs a tiny bit on the blower pulley, but the belt looks fine. The only way I know is because you can see some belt dust on the alternator case. It's a Goodyear Gatorback belt. I've never seemed to have a problem with it slipping.

It came with a chip - I'm assuming the one from SHO Shop that made it run pig rich and like shit. There's a guy named Jerry Wroblewski who used to work for Ford and now works for Superchips Custom Tuning. He flys all over the country and does two day dyno tuning sessions at various locations. Usually a company with a dyno is hosting him and you schedule your slot through them. You pay Jerry for the tuning and burn to the Superchip and the shop for the dyno time. It was a $400 one time thing ($100 for the dyno time, $200 for Jerrys expertise and $100 for the chip that probably cost him $15). At the time Tweecer wasn't available and the software that was (SHOTuner) was much more complicated. Between learning how to use the software and starting with such a heavily modified car, I'm willing to admit I was affraid of blowing the thing up in the process of tuning it. So, I took it to Jerry and within 20 minutes had a car that ran great.

It's the original SHO Shop unit with the Vortech V-1 S-trim supercharger. I don't know what size the pulley is, but I never see over 5 or 6 lbs of boost on my gauge. Even with that little, it's still enough power. It's got Ford Motorsport 36lb injectors and Denso Iridium IK20 plugs (pn5304) in it. The fuel pump is larger too, but sure which one. I'd have to look at receipts to tell you that.

The block is the original stock 3.0 with stock cams and pulleys. It's really got no other power adders besides the 80mm MAF and blower. The long tube headers and true dual exhaust system are the ones that Eric at Rickety enterprises sold a while back. The headers are a work of art.

My last SHO wasn't a daily driver either, but this one seems to get driven less and less between the new house and baby. At this point, I drive it a bit in the evenings on the weekends looking for unsuspecting victims and take it to the track (road course). In fact, I bet it's practically got more track miles on it than street miles. I'm waiting for the motor to give up the ghost, then I think I'm going back to a built NA 3.2 that'll be geared more towards track use. Funny thing is, it just keeps hanging in there. Each time I go it makes me a little nervous. Not that the car is unreliable by any means, but how many miles can I put on it sustaining 6K and above? I'll let you know the answer to that question when I find out, but in the meantime, the engine just keeps taking it! I really do think it's the most reliable blower SHO thats ever been.

Any other questions, just let me know.

Kurt, if I get your motor to go so you can build up this other engine, can we work out a good deal for the blower set up?

Since mine ran at one point too, let me post about the slowest supercharged SHO ever! (yes, a bold statement)

List of mods in order of airflow:

Huge-random-truck-paper-air-filter >> 80mm (ProM I think?) MAF >> custom throttle body to supercharger adapter box >> Gen I Eaton M90 >> custom T-5051 (or was it 6061?) intake manifold box thing >> 3.2 swap with 3.0 cams >> custom 5 cylinder 3.2 short block >> SHO Shop equal length catted Y-Pipe >> pieced together cat back (two small resonators bend around the shifter box before splitting into two Magnaflow mufflers)

Also for the blower: 38 lb injectors and Tweecer tuning

Oh yeah, and I've got a boost gauge mounted on the hood.

Currently disabled for piston safety: Zex 75 shot nitrous

It's not a lot of power, but it's only been running on 5 cylinders due to hopefully just a compacted ring (still untested). Check out that sweet torque curve though!

Also, I should add my school project:

I made a mod for Unreal Tournament 2004 so you can drive my car around. Now just to figure out how to put it into Gran Turismo! ;)

How many miles on that setup Kurt? Since you want to go NA, turn up the boost, blow up that engine, and I will trade you a 3.2 for your SC setup!!

Hey geeksho, what did you end up running in the quarter that day?
I got a skull-blowing 14.9 at 95 mph, with a nice smoke trail all the way down the track, according to my companions. I only got two runs in before they booted my car out for leaking oil on their track. I bogged both times. I still haven't learned how to launch the thing yet.

At least I finally broke into the 14's, yay!

that is a pretty cool setup to say the least... I had the same reaction when i ran a 14 sec run, and when i broke 100mph and then again when I made the 13's :) now granted that happened the same night in 2 pulls but still all in good fun.

I bet poeple ask you about that car constantly.

I can't wait to get my car to the track(this tuesday).... last time I went I didn't get to run because a corvette blew oil on the track.... you should figure out how to get it into gran turismo 4, along with the second gen. All they have is the gen 3.

How come absolutley nobody is using paxton? You can get a sn93 or novi below 500 bucks off ebay. Has anyone ever attempted to run them or do these superchargers just suck.

Carter, what is the estimated WHP on your setup assuming everything is working right? Also, what is the most HP you have heard of from the 3.4 v8?
