Well, I think the job is done. It took A LOT longer than I expected. To read the steps you would think it would take about an hour or so. If you've never done it, and you're not sure where all the vacumn and water hoses are, it can be a slow process. The real important part is remembering to connect all the stuff under the throttle body BEFORE you torque down the intake and bolt all the supports back. I don't know about other cars but the mess of hoses on the right rear of a California, 3.2L, makes getting to that back intake support a real B_tch ! Those hoses and the EGR lines on the other end of the motor really need more play in them.

Things I learned:

Wire back as much of the crap from the back valve cover as will move.
Use a little silicone on the back valve cover gasket, because even with the stuff pulled away, you will still have to fight a bit to get it in place. If the gasket comes loose, you may have a nasty oil leak and have to do it ALL OVER AGAIN!
Make sure you plug connect ALL the hoses back under the throttle body before you put any bolts into the intake. You may THINK you can just slide those clamps back in place afterwards, but you can't. I wasted too much time trying.
Wear goggles when using the Berrymans carb spray to clean out the intake. It tends to splash back in your face and eyes. It burns. I know.
Be carefull with the EGR valve line. It may be a vacumn hose but it is stiff plastic and breaks easy. ( If you break it, the small size aquarium air tubing fits snugly over it, so you can splice it back together. )
Make sure the electrical line for the module by the throttle body, but on the intake side does not get trapped when you put the intake back on. It tends to want to lay back on the top of the engine.
Thie first time you lift the intake is a lot easier than the fourth time you pull it. By then your a lot more tired.
The Helms manual does not go into any real detail. Download the 60K valve maintenance guide from SDPATT.

I also broke the plastic cover of the cruise control cable, trying to pull it off the third time. I don't know if the control will work now. Is that part available ? Can just the end part be ordered ?

Well I'm glad you got it back together and with out the leak. Hind site is 20/20 I should have told you about some of those lessons you learned. After you've removed the intake once you learn alot except if its been awhile you forget to warn others.
