Possible Shifter Upgrade

I have been sort of looking at the automatic shifter knobs, and unless I want to pay over $100 bucks for one, they don't seem to come with an O/D switch. Would it be possible to buy one of these Auto shifter knobs and then just make a switch for the O/D button and mount it somewhere near the shifter? Or would that not work. Logic seems to me that it would not matter where the button was for the O/D Switch as long as it could be turned off or on. Does this make sense to anyone else?

What's wrong with your shifter? You could mount the button for OD anywhere you wanted to. Radio Shack sells probably at least a dozen different momentary contact buttons.

Nothing is wrong with it, just wanted a cosmetic change maybe...

I gotcha... don't know what options there are for changing the shifter on the automatic. You could put on any shifter that fits and if it doesn't have an OD button you could mount it on the console.
