There have been sooo many dyno discussionsd lately on the forum. I wondered if it was possible to get a portable dyno for a day at the 07 convention. I'm sure there would be plenty of people that would want to perticipate, like myself. I'm sure this could be feasable, given enough time to plan for it. This is just a thought I had, as there wasn't enough time at last year's convention for all that wanted to dyno. Let me know what you think, and we'll go from there.

P.S. Don, I would really like to hear your opnion.:)

Great idea!

Only problem is getting enough people to sign up so it would pay for itself.

If you can do that I dont see a reason why don wouldnt like it :)

I'd love to see a Dyno shoot out.

This could also be incoperated into a "King of the Hill" award.
Just throwing out ideas.
We could also divide this into classes:

It might be worth seeing if the host committee might be able to arrange dyno time at a shop in the vicinity of the various convention facilities (if they haven't already).

There are only a handful of mobile dynos that I'm aware of, and I don't know if there are any in Michigan or surrounding states where the owner would be willing to travel without a number of advance commitments. If asked, I can check with Justin Starkey who builds mobile Dynojets and see if he knows of anyone in that area.

Dynojet may be able to provide some contacts in that area as well.

This was going to be at one of the conventions I think, and didn't work out for whatever reason. Seems like the 2002 one, but I can't remember.

BTW I can't believe that (2002, MD) was 5(!) yrs ago. Man where does time go?

Hoping to make MI...if I can keep enough R12 in the 92 to go up/back. :nut:

I know there has got to be one in the area because when I went to martian (aka 131 dragway) one time and there was one, given the people that were working it couldnt figure out some bugs that kept going wrong with it. But I will look into it and try to figure out where it came from.

Andy and I didn't have it unitl well after the convention was over. We drove all the way out there without it. We even went to Nevada without it!!

Somewhere I have a pic of my EATC registering 113. I think it was hotter than that though.

There was a dyno day at Kenny Brown during the '05 convention in Indy.

That was a good time even though not many cars were putting up the numbers they should of. With kenny giving tours of the shop and talking about the history of the shop, it was a even a great spot for spectators to go!

If we could even just get a day of dyno time at a local shop and put it on the registration to have it pre-pay (like indy was i think). If we could do this i would be in on the dyno, that is of course, if NON-sho's are allowed ;)

If someone that knows Michigan would visit the dynojet site:

www.dynojet.com

And see if any of the listed towns are close to Kalamazoo. They list a college in Kalamazoo, but there is no web site, just a phone number, and chances are a college won't do public tests.

With fuel costs and other expenses, a portable dyno would need to be pretty close.

If someone checks this out, get back to me by private message and let me know what you find out. I would be willing to try, but there isn't a lot of free time during the convention.
