When the car starts moving from a stop there is a very distinct 'pop' that I can hear and slightly feel. I feel it near my right foot. This started several weeks ago. I have looked under the car and nothing looks amiss. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Kevin

P.S. the car is a '95 MTX with 159,000 miles on it.

I would chech your subframe bushings, front strut rods bushings, or maybe even tie rods for the problem. My 95 starting doing this and I found upon replacement that my subframe bushings were all corroded and on the rear two, they were actually like fused to the subframe. I had one heck of a time prying and hitting with a hammer to get them off. I would replace them with a set of aluminum bushings, as they increase the feel of the steering response also.

Thanks, guys. I will look into it all.

Kevin

P.S. What do the aluminum bushings do to the ride? Are there urethane bushings available? I already have a truck and don't want another car with a hard/bouncy ride.

You can get firm rubber bushings for the SHO (from the Gen III, IIRC). They will be stiffer than stock, but softer than Alum. Some people have installed Alum bushings on the front with genIII bushings in the rear with good results.

IMHO, The Delrin bushings on my car made no difference in the ride that I could tell. The Alum is just as hard as the Delrin version.

Suggest also checking inner and outer CV joints...Rebuilt half shafts could solve the problem...
I second that. I had that problem when my CV joint was shot. Very distinct knocking noise when starting off, could isolate it to the right side of the car though. Do you have problems power wise down low?
