I need new plugs, wires, and a thermostat for my 92 MTX. I obviously can't get the back 3 on my own and the thermostat looks like a real pain also. So, I call the local ford dealership (first mistake) and ask for a price on getting this done. They tell me $531! I was thinking I should be able to get this all done for like $150-$200 tops. Does anyone know any prices for parts or anything so I know a fair price? Any suggestions are appreciated!

I have 2-1993s, and oddly enough I just changed the T-Stat and coolant temperature sender (grounded sensor which sends message to the needle on dash) in one of them today. T-stat cost me $8.00, Sender cost $9, 2 Gaskets cost about $4, some Permatex and some time, job done for about $25.00. I also bought a set of wires and plugs a while back- Motorcraft plugs $24 and Motorcraft wire set was $150ish. So, all in all, the parts should total about $200. Which means Ford wants to bend you over for about $300- if you are mechanically inclined, I recommend you do the work yourself. If not, find a friend who is.

Go here...Torrie's got good prices. Plugs are 3.99 ea. and the wires are 82.99
You should be able to do it yourself with a little time. A 6-8 inch extension works well on the rear bank.

I'm sure there is someone here from Ohio that you could hook up with for some help.

I recommend the Motorcraft thermostat with the rubber seat and the jiggle valves to make filling the radiator a much faster process. The rubber seal around the outside of the thermostat is also included. You should not use any sealant on this joint. The Motorcraft RT-1112 is available in the 180 degree or 192 degree versions and can be had from FordPartsNetwork.com for $19.99+s&h, FordPartsOnline.com for $17.77+s&h or CarParts.com for $16.74+s&h.
