well, first it causes the spark to short through the oil instead of through the spark plugs electrode and it kills the ignition wires.

Sure does, even after you remove the oil.

I had a split plug wire boot on cyl. #3. Replaced it with a good used one, inspected the rest, replaced the plug well seals after cleaning out the wells. Hesitation / buck persists, a couple of weeks later, replace the wires with new...

Pulled off #2, it was split in 2 places now.

After replacing the wires, no more issues.

As mentioned above and also, the oil tends to heat up often and causes the square part of the boot to pop off the valve cover, thus disconnecting or weakening the spark plug connection.

you think the cracked plastic on the wires actually affects the performance?? because i dont think the insulation of the wire cracks its just the plastic around it. because all 3 wires on my rear bank are cracked badly but my car runs like tops still.

Ysosi,

I think you're talking about the spiral wrap, which is just for abrasion resistance, and he was talking about the plug wire tube that reaches down into the plug well. (I think)
