Same issue......30 miles, loses power, dies. Sit 30min, starts up, runs 30 miles, dies.

The vapor canister IS clogged, but I vented the gas cap, thinking a canister wasn't needed.

The pump primes.......the filter was changed, well, I don't know when. I was told this was not symptoms of a bad filter. Maybe he's just an idiot.

I've heard "purge valve" thrown around but have no idea if it would cause this.

Please, help a brother out........a very sad SHO brother.

This almost sounds like a crank sensor. When a crank sensor is failing the car will just randomly stall and it takes time for it to be able to restart it again. What's the history on the last time it was replaced?

I don't think a bad fuel filter would cause this issue. Who is saying that it would? It would seem that if it was clogged, the car would spit and chug like it is starving for fuel, in a sense, it would be. Is it? Have you checked your fuel pressure at the rail?

The purge valve is responsible for sending the unburned fuel vapor from the hose that connects to the throttle body to the vapor canister, then it sends the vapors back to the tank. If you get a real strong smell of gas after you have driven the car, it is either the purge valve or your vapor canister.

The chk eng light has never come on, but I'll check for codes anyway tomorrow.

What about the fuel pump? It's the original unit. Few people told me that what I have going on sounds just like a pump getting hot and shutting down.

Maybe the water pump / crank position sensor problem. Get the dental mirror out and look for a little trail of water from the water pump weep hole.
