So I had this idea to try and plasti dip the 2010-2012 stock 20 inch rims to look similar to the 2013 20 inch rims. They're kind of similar rims, but they are different. I just gave one rim a shot (took over 2 hours just to tape the one rim, lots of curves!). Plus I couldn't find thin enough tape so I ended up cutting electrical tape into small pieces to get all of the lines. Didn't do the best job in the world, but it was just a test!

Let me know what you guys think! I think it looks pretty sweet. When it warms up I'll do all 4 wheels. It's 40 degrees today so the plasti dip didn't want to dry properly and dripped. Also going to take the rim off the car next time as it was really difficult to tape it on the car.

That looks really good! I never really liked all of the chrome on the 10-12 rims, but that I could live with!

Didn't like it in the first pic but when you show the entire car I really, really like it. I was thinking of Plasti-dipping my wife's Jeep's rims. I'm not a fan of black rims at all but I really like what you did.

Only looks strange because ALL the wheels aren't done yet ;) Very nice work with the dip :thumb:

Thanks everyone! My plan is to paint them this Friday.. Got the day off and it's supposed to be fairly warm outside. I also ordered up some thinner masking tape so hopefully I can get the lines a little better as well. Should hopefully have some pictures for ya Friday night! On a side note, ordered a tuner from Torrie at Unleashed Tuning. Should be here Thursday. Pretty excited!

Yep its the sct x4. I had a x3 for my 2011 mustang. I liked it, but the x4 looks pretty sweet!

I'd just send them off to be powdercoated to your specs......plastidip doesn't look good after awhile/reapplications get expensive.

From what I've heard of it involves extensive taping you can expect it to cost over 600$ give or take the "quality" of the shop.

Finally got around to painting all of the rims! Really liking it! Getting a lot of compliments and head turns :) Took me around 7-8 hours including jacking up the car, taking them off, cleaning, taping, painting, and putting them back on. Took 2 cans of plasti dip for all 4 rims and I had some glossifier I used. I only got one coat of glossifier and I ran out.. Will probably buy some more to make them shine a little more.

Definitely breathed new life into these wheels! This look is rare, have personally only seen it on one other SHO, a 2011 Kona Blue.
