quick shot of the front section, nice and tucked in the tunnel.
the pipe is 3inch mandrel bent aluminized steel which will last a long time here in Florida.i used the builders kit from Columbia river mandrel.

showing the new collector and the 3 bolt ****** we used.
the Ypipe is the SHObros equal length unit, similar to the one SHO source has a GB going on for.i didn't care for the collector design so,we fixed it:)
the collector is stainless two 2.25 into one 2.5.

side shot of the collector and ******. again this is a standard 3 bolt ****** you can get at any parts store.seems much better than the stock 2 bolt doughnut and spring setup.
2cwsq2p
a shot of the center section goin around the gas tank keeping it tucked as best we can.plumbing 3 inch becomes tough in this area.
T53fdg
heres a shot of the over the axel section.as you can see its a little too close to the LCA but we should be able to fix this by adding another hanger.
2lxtkdx
a shot of the magnaflow muffler i used.its one from there "race series".
all stainless straght through design.comes with a nice polished rolled edge tip.

shot of the stock = length y-pipe collector. as you can see there is much to be improved upon.

a shot of the 10-15 year old Borla system that i was using before.still in great shape and a testament the there quality exhaust systems.

i have to say im very happy with how this system turned out, though it could use a tweak or two to be perfect.
even with the 3 inch pipe thats most likely a tad too large for N/A use ive noticed an improvent in mid and high range torque.id likely attribute this to the collector modification rather than the exhaust itself. anyone out there with an aftermarket Y i would diffinatly make this my next mod.
As for the sound i was pleasantly surprised. although it is a tad loud much of the most annoying rasp is gone, even being catless without a any resonator. id like to post a sound clip but i don't have that capability at the moment.

That looks good.

Where did you get the "Y" and is it 2.5" or 3"? I've got all the parts to do a nice 2.5" setup, but right now I've got a Magnaflow 2.25"-2.5" Y to replace the one on the SHOSource pipe. I couldn't find any other 2.25"-2.5" Y's.

yeah its 2.25 into 2.5. although we cut it back a little to match the 3inch a little better.
this was the only place i could find, and it was kinda expensive.

How does the exhaust flex under engine movement?

With my 3" exhaust I have a 12" SS flex pipe.

$33?!? That's not that much. Did you look at the prices for the HUGE ones in Summit? They're like $50-60, and way too bulky.

That's exactly what I was looking for to use on my y-pipe, but I was going to attempt to make one :laugh_ti:. Where did you find the ****** plates, same site?

half-way there, I think.

Exactly, you're going break something. Even with modified motor mounts and a 10" flex pipe I cracked the rear down pipe twice. I also had a 3 bolt ****** on mine as well, but it would always wind up leaking. I finally resolved both issues with the below.

as long as he uses a rubber hanger it should just sway the whole system back. mtx cars never came with flex pipes from the factory.

btw props on that exhaust, shit looks REALLY good.

More yes then no. MTX cars used a sprung flex joint that allowed the engine to move without trying to torque the whole exhaust system up and down.

That is some nice pipe work, but unless you have solid motor mounts, you really need a well supported flex joint up front, otherwise, expect to see the first fractures forward of that pretty 2>1 Y transition.
